Gertrude Irene Flaherty Jackson – (Trudy) Aunt Toadie

Birth: November 3, 1913, St Edward, Nebraska

Death: August 30, 2005, Modesto, California
How Aunt Toadie got her name:
My Mom got her nickname because she was a chubby little girl who walked at 8 months. The story is that Uncle Bud thought she looked like a cute little toad hopping around. And that was that. Poor Mom! She always hated her nickname. Who wouldn’t, right? But it stuck for the rest of her life with family and old friends, at least. She didn’t really like Gertrude, either. So eventually she became Trudy to new friends in Modesto. So we were Big Trudy and Little Trudy. Until I grew up and was 4 inches taller.
